I’m Adam , the garden designer behind Fält Gardens. I create plant-led gardens with character, colour and life. Nature is a constant source of inspiration and consideration in my work. I don’t believe a garden has to look wild to make space for nature — it can be beautiful, colourful and carefully designed while providing food and shelter for birds, insects and other wildlife. Plants have always been there Some of my earliest memories are of gardens: following my grandad around his garden, watching the birds on the feeders and a fascination of plants. Our neighbour grew dahlias for flower shows, including Chelsea, and there’s a photograph of me as a child almost disappearing behind one of them. That fascination has never really left me. Gardens have become a way of bringing together three things I’ve always loved: plants, design and the natural world. From graphic design to garden design Before working professionally with gardens, I was a graphic designer. Many of the same principles apply equally to gardens — composition, proportion, colour and rhythm. But gardens are alive. Plants grow and interact, seasons change and wildlife arrives.
